Something different.
That’s what January’s coffee club was - something different. When I shoot events I usually avoid two things: B&W publishing, and flash photography. But people don’t usually wake up, grab coffee, and hit the dancefloor on a Sunday morning, so in the spirit of new experiences I rolled up with a $30 manual flash stuck to my camera.
Following Secret Disco Society’s rampant success in the Austin live music scene and a timely feature on Austin Monthly’s Instagram account, over 500 people RSVP’d (and judging by the crowd inside and the line that stretched out the door, they showed up.) A good turnout demands good music, and Anula, Jess James, and Nyoki had the crowd on their feet.
